New Horror Movies Ep. 193: Dead Man Still Walking - Forgive Us All (2025)

It’s alive (not dead) but inhabiting a post-apocalyptic western! Jay of the Dead’s New Horror Movies presents another episode of your favorite zombie movie podcast, Dead Man Still Walking — also known as Dr. Kyle Bishop. In this 67th edition, Dr. Bishop heads to post-apocalyptic New Zealand for an examination of Forgive Us All (2025), writer-director Jordana Stott’s low-budget, Western-inflected infection narrative. Kyle considers the film’s striking landscapes, strong emotional performances, and its central concerns with trauma, survivor’s guilt, redemption, and sacrifice. But does a film with remarkably few zombies still earn its zombie-movie credentials? Dr. Walking Dead examines the feral infected, the story’s human conflict, its uneasy moral choices, and an effectively frightening final act. Saddle up for a somber little frontier tale with horses, shootouts, a desperate race for a cure, and zombies waiting in the woods.

New Horror Movies Ep. 192: Dead Man Still Walking - Marvel Zombies (2025)

Happy Halloween this month! Jay of the Dead’s New Horror Movies presents another special edition of Dead Man Still Walking, the Zombie Movie Podcast with Dr. Walking Dead. This time, Dr. Kyle Bishop welcomes guest Jay of the Dead to tackle Marvel’s animated, four-part Marvel Zombies (2025). Though the series has the cumulative length and continuous plot of a feature film, its connection to What If…? leaves both hosts initially bewildered—and wondering why a story with “Zombies” in its title expects viewers to arrive with so much Marvel homework completed. Dr. Bishop and Jay discuss the series’ high-concept zombie mythology, including the quantum-virus outbreak, red-eyed undead under Scarlet Witch’s control, and superpowered zombies who retain startlingly useful skills. They examine its blend of siege narrative, road-trip narrative, Marvel comedy, graphic animated violence, and increasingly kaleidoscopic superhero action. Along the way, they praise several returning voice performers, debate whether the series is truly satisfying zombie fare, celebrate some remarkably inventive undead kills, and explain why the finale earns its dark ending.

Burial GroundDead Man Still WalkingOasis of the Zombies

New Horror Movies Ep. 189: Dead Man Still Walking - Burial Ground (1981) and Oasis of the Zombies (1982)

It’s alive … still. Well, more or less. Dead Man Still Walking, the Zombie Movie Podcast brought to you by Dr. Walking Dead Kyle Bishop, takes a double-feature plunge into early-1980s European zombie cinema. This time, Dr. Bishop examines Andrea Bianchi’s Italian splatter oddity Burial Ground (1981) alongside Jesús Franco’s desert-set Nazi-zombie snoozer, Oasis of the Zombies (1982). First, Dr. Walking Dead finds surprising merit in Burial Ground, a gory, Fulci-influenced Italian zombie film full of shambling corpses, graveyard risings, grisly practical effects, and some outrageous storytelling choices. Then, Dr. Bishop turns to Oasis of the Zombies, a supposedly promising tale of undead Nazis guarding lost wartime gold — but one that he finds painfully dull, poorly assembled, and barely worth enduring for its few unsettling zombie images. Which film is a priority stream for gore hounds, and which one should be avoided at all costs? Join Dr. Kyle Bishop for this messy, mordant, and occasionally hilarious expedition into European zombie cinema.

New Horror Movies Ep. 187: Dead Man Still Walking - Zombie Lake (1981) with guest Mister Watson

And here we have another edition of Dead Man Still Walking, *the* Zombie Movie Podcast starring Dr. Walking Dead himself, the distinguished Dr. Kyle Bishop! For this embalmed but exhumed excursion into the murkiest depths of zombie cinema, the good doctor welcomes first-time DMSW guest Mister Watson — a man whose exceptional movie picks have earned him praise from Jay of the Dead. Naturally, Dr. Bishop rewards Watson’s exemplary taste by subjecting him to a movie widely considered to be “one of the worst zombie movies ever made”: Zombie Lake (1981). Set in a French village roughly 10 years after World War II, “Zombie Lake” concerns a squad of slain German soldiers whose bodies were dumped into a mysterious lake — only for the waterlogged Nazis to rise again and terrorize the townspeople. New Horror Movies Ep. 185: Dead Man Still Walking - Nightmare City (1980)

Jay of the Dead’s New Horror Movies presents the 63rd edition of Dead Man Still Walking, your favorite Zombie Movie Podcast hosted by Dr. Walking Dead Kyle William Bishop! This time, the good doctor returns to an older corner of zombie cinema with Umberto Lenzi’s strange and unconventional Italian horror film “Nightmare City” (1980), a movie whose director apparently insisted was not a zombie movie, despite Dr. Bishop arriving at a very different diagnosis. And of course, as for me and my house, we will be believing Dr. Bishop’s assessment. The infected creatures of “Nightmare City” are unlike your average shambling undead: They use knives, clubs, guns and even a harpoon gun; they appear capable of planning and communicating nonverbally; and instead of merely eating flesh, they sometimes stop to drink their victims’ blood. That leaves Dr. Walking Dead pondering an especially unusual case of cinematic zombiism: Are these monsters zombies, infected humans, vampires or some bizarre hybrid of all three?

Jay of the Dead’s New Horror Movies presents the 62nd edition of Dead Man Still Walking, the Zombie Movie Podcast hosted by Dr. Walking Dead himself, Dr. Kyle Bishop! This episode offers a cinematic zombie twofer, beginning with Christopher Landon’s irreverent teen comedy, “Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse” (2015), followed by the main event: Destry Allyn Spielberg’s dystopian Gothic thriller, “Please Don’t Feed the Children” (2025). First, Dr. Bishop briefly ventures into the realm of gross-out humor, zombie strippers and scouting skills put to apocalyptic use. Then Dr. Walking Dead turns his attention to “Please Don’t Feed the Children,” a slow-burning post-apocalyptic thriller in which young people are immune to a mysterious viral outbreak but are persecuted as suspected carriers. New Horror Movies Ep. 181: Dead Man Still Walking - Dead of Night (1974) and Sugar Hill (1974)

It’s time for your favorite Zombie Movie Podcast brought to you by Jay of the Dead’s New Horror Movies, which is here to present another fascinating edition of Dead Man Still Walking with Dr. Walking Dead Kyle Bishop! This time, Dr. Bishop journeys back to 1974 for a double-feature exploration of two very different zombie films: Dead of Night (also known as “Deathdream”) and Sugar Hill. One is a somber, politically charged meditation on the lingering trauma of the Vietnam War, while the other is a colorful blend of Blaxploitation cinema, voodoo lore, revenge storytelling, and classic raised-dead zombies.

New Horror Movies Ep. 179: Dead Man Still Walking - Weapons (2025)

It’s alive! Your favorite Zombie Movie Podcast shambles back into your ears once again — Dead Man Still Walking, starring the ever-insightful (and occasionally curmudgeonly) Dr. Walking Dead himself, Kyle William Bishop! In this episode, the good doctor is joined by none other than special guest Jay of the Dead for a thoughtful — and at times boisterous — discussion of “Weapons” (2025). In this edition, Dr. Bishop digs into a provocative question: Is Weapons actually more of a “true” zombie film than even the works of George A. Romero? It’s a bold claim, and one that sparks plenty of analysis about what really defines a zombie narrative, beyond just shambling corpses and apocalyptic backdrops.

New Horror Movies Ep. 176: Dead Man Still Walking - Ziam (2025)

Here in Dead Man Still Walking, Dr. Kyle William Bishop reviews a Netflix Original, Action Martial Arts / Science Fiction / Zombie flick from Thailand called Ziam (2025) — as in “Zombie Siam” or “Ziam.” But using his technical definition, Dr. Bishop would not call “Ziam” much of a Horror movie, despite its zombie monsters because it has hardly any suspense or tension. It is mostly Action (with an empowered protagonist), which is not conducive to promoting fear within viewers. Even so, it’s fun to hear Dr. Bishop talk about watching this film during his camping adventures. Listen!
